NOTICE OF RACE
 

 

  1. ORGANISATION.
  2. The regatta is organised by the Circolo Nautico Lavagna and the IMX 38 Italian Association with the collaboration of X-Yachts of Denmark.

     

  3. VENUE AND DATES.
  4. The regatta will be held in the waters off Lavagna, which is situated approx. 40 km south east of Genova, Italy. The base of the event will be the port of Lavagna, located in the middle of the "Tigullio Gulf" (from Portofino to Sestri Levante), from 23rd to 28th June 1998.

     

  5. RACE RULES.
  6. The races will be governed by I..S.A.F., with the integrative instructions of Italian Sailing Federation (FIV), the Sailing Instructions and the notices of the Race Committee. For IMX 38 the European & Mediterranean Class Rules edition March ’98 will be applied.

    Upon Organising Committee’s request competitors shall display on the boats the sponsor logos given by the organisation.

    The regatta is classified as category B (App. G4 ISAF).

     

  7. PARTICIPANTS.
  8. All X-Yachts. Both old and new models will be admitted to the European X-Yachts Cup.

    All IMX 38 yachts, which comply with the IMX 38 class measurement regulations, will take part to European IMX 38 Championship.

    Sailing instructions may foresee the admission of IMX 38 to the X-Yachts European Cup.

     

  9. HANDICAP SYSTEM.
  10. X-Yachts Cup: Basically IMS rule to be applied. If a yacht should need an IMS certificate the organisation will be glad to issue it, free of charge.

    IMX 38 Championship: real time. Or IMS rule if admitted to X-Yachts European Cup.

     

  11. PRIZES.
  12. X-Yachts Cup: prizes will be given to the best yachts of each series, disregarding whether the type is still produced or not.

    Challenge Cup awarded to the yacht with best overall results.

    IMX 38 Championship: IMX 38 European Cup will be given to the best yacht. Prizes for Second and Third place.

    Other prizes may be awarded by the Organisation.

     

  13. ENTRIES.
The attached entry form must be filled out and returned by the 31st of May 1998.

The entry fee is:

A 10% discount is foreseen for those boats which entry fee is received within May 1st 1998.

The organising committee reserves the right to accept entries received after the last day of entries. In this case the entry fee should be increased by 50%.

 

  1. SCHEDULE.
  2. Tuesday 23 June Registration – Measurement. ( IMX 38 )

    Wednesday 24 June Measurement ( IMX 38 )-Registration for all other boats-Opening Ceremony.

    Thursday 25 June 2 x 8 miles Windward-Leeward races.

    Friday 26 June 2 x 8 miles Windward-Leeward races.

    Saturday 27 June 2 x 8 miles Windward-Leeward races.

    Sunday 28 June 1 x 8 miles Windward-Leeward race.

    The Sailing Instructions may change the above schedule.

     

  3. SOCIAL EVENTS (free of charge)
 
  1. INSPECTIONS AND MEASUREMENTS.
  2. IMX 38 measurements and controls will take place on June 23 and 24.

    Daily safety and measurement controls will take place during racing days both on IMX 38 and other boats.

     

  3. SAFETY.
  4. The regatta will be considered category 4 according to the ORC Special Regulations governing Offshore Racing.

     

  5. MOORINGS.
  6. From June 20 to July 4 1998.

    The mooring space will be free of charge and will be occupied under the entire responsibility of the skipper/owner of each yachts.

     

  7. LANGUAGE.
  8. The official languages of the regatta will be English and Italian.

    In case of any divergence between different language text, the English text shall prevail.

     

  9. OWNERS RESPONSIBILITY.
  10. Every participant in this regatta, acts under his own risk and responsibility.

    The Organising Committee, the Sponsors or any person or entity involved in the organisation of the event, bears no responsibility for any possible loss, damage, injury or nuisances to people or things, both on the water and on shore, as a consequence of taking part in the regatta mentioned in this notice of race.

    Attention is drawn to the fundamental rule 4 Part 1 of the RROS which establishes:

    "A boat is solely responsible for deciding whether or not to start or to continue racing".

     

  11. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS.
  12. Will be available to the competitors by the day before the race.
